STEFANIDOU TSOUKALA GALLERY x MARITSA TRAVLOS at PAD Paris 2026
For PAD Paris 2026, Stefanidou Tsoukala Gallery presents “Material – Color – Light”, a solo presentation dedicated to the work of Greek artist Maritsa Travlos. Bringing together a constellation of sculptures, lamps, mirrors and chromatic porcelain works, the exhibition reveals the artist’s singular approach to porcelain as a medium of transformation.
At the core of Maritsa Travlos’s practice lies a fundamental triad: material, color and light. Rather than treating these elements as separate components, the artist allows them to merge within the body of porcelain itself.
Working with high-fired white porcelain infused with organic pigments, Travlos embeds color directly into the clay mass, allowing the intense heat of the kiln to generate intricate chromatic formations within the material itself. Through this process, porcelain becomes a living surface in which color, structure and translucency emerge from within.
Her work draws inspiration from the natural world: marine life, botanical forms, microscopic structures and celestial phenomena, translating these elements into luminous sculptural compositions that oscillate between the organic and the cosmic.
Maritsa Travlos’ works have been exhibited internationally and are held in private collections across Europe and the United States. Through a practice that unites material experimentation with poetic imagination, she continues to expand the boundaries between sculpture, light and chromatic matter.
